Dalien is a seasonal festival where communities gather after the hard work of harvesting rice, fruit, and other produce. It's held in the early evening into night, usually over 2 or 3 nights. Walking paths fill with small vendors baking fresh, crunchy snacks, people playing traditional games — and the occasional betting game, just for fun. A campfire burns at the center, casting shadows for Small and Big Shadow Puppet Theater performances, building to the night's finale: a communal dance in circles around the fire.
We bring you a taste of these celebrations meaning behind them, drawn from real village life. Our local dance school partner quietly transforms itself into our festival site, with the student artists' parents sharing their traditions, rituals, and festival activities with you firsthand! |

Intimate Welcome & Intention Setting
Guest experience begins the moment they meet their Cultural Host at their hotel lobby or restaurant over a cup of coffee or tea. In this relaxed, friendly setting, we will break the ice, discover guests' specific curiosities and questions. Our host tailors insights to match guests' personal curiosities, ensuring continuous learning and personal growth — ~15 minutes
Alms-Offering Ceremony (Morning) or Blessing Ceremony

Join community members, parents, and student artists in a serene alms-offering to Buddhist monks. Gain insight into monastic tradition — what guides monks in receiving daily offerings, and the philosophy behind days with none. Guests may actively participate or observe quietly — ~15 minutes
Village Festivities & Heritage Immersion
Experience authentic village celebrations in interactive small groups, rotating through hands-on cultural activity stations designed to foster a genuine connection to Cambodian tradition — ~30 minutes
Khmer Classical Dance Master Class
An interactive workshop decoding the graceful gestures, postures, and dance language of Khmer classical dance — recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hunmanity, a gift for all humans — and how it embodies the spirit of Cambodianess: "Soft, Gentle & Graceful But Not Weak" — ~25 minutes
Student-Led Cultural Showcase
Live classical and folk dance presentations performed by talented local students, bridging generations through cultural storytelling — ~20 minutes
Reflections & Signature Take-Home Session
A guided reflection circle with master artists, student performers, and community hosts — sharing takeaways while giving valuable feedback to the young performers — ~15 minutes
Add-on Option to Complete a journey of immersion, A Community Artisan Encounter — ~40 minutes(Visit neighboring stone sculpture workshops run by master artisan parents/guardians of our student performers.)

- Shared Journeys are generally offered on weekend mornings, available for limited durations/months only. Grab your chance now!
- Private Journeys offer wider availability — intimate, fully customized experiences for groups of 4+ or a booking value of USD 260, with flexible scheduling and a co-created itinerary tailored to your interests. From small, intimate groups up to 20 guests; larger groups accommodated with advance notice
- For Private Journeys — Optional: Community Artisan Encounter, a short commute from the festival site for the total visit duration of around 40 minutes) — USD 6.00 per adult, free for children & infants. Not an organized business — these are solo artisans and small workshops, a few craftspeople working and learning together. Deepen your journey with an exclusive visit to neighboring sculpture workshops run by master artisans — the parents and guardians of the young performers from our partner arts club. Passed down through generations, their craft is a living testament to Cambodian heritage. Your add-on fee covers the extra steps in the journey and is shared between Daraism & Artists and the artisans. Each hand-carved piece carries the soul of Cambodian stone — a rare, one-of-a-kind keepsake crafted before your eyes. Should you choose to purchase one, we take zero commission: 100% goes straight to the families keeping this tradition alive, an opportunity for impactful tourism that supports Cambodia's creative industries.
We’ll meet you at your location—perhaps over a welcoming cup of coffee for a meet and greet and setting of our intention. If you have your own/preferred driver, I will be happy to join you. If not, we provide best-in-style transportation: remork, city car, or tourist van, depending on your comfort and group size.

Providing Opportunities & Responsible Travel
Public dance presentations take place strictly outside school hours, offering student artists vital skill- and career-building opportunities. Grounded in the dance school's Child Protection Policy — available in Khmer and English as signed copies at the school campus — students are always accompanied by teachers, parents, or guardians during these presentations. By joining us, you directly support a community training initiative that balances formal education with artistic empowerment. Photo & Video Policy: Group photos and short videos are permitted. Individual or close-up shots of student performers are not allowed. All images and footage must be used respectfully and for non-commercial purposes only.
Survival, Then Thriving: The Khmer Angkor Training Arts & Culture Training Club (KATACT as in one of the indian iconic dance form)
Every booking here sustains a volunteer-run dance school. We've offered a founding trade partner exclusivity — not because they asked, but so guaranteed income lets the school build toward more students, real teacher salaries, and eventual registration as a national NGO.

Cancellation Policy
At Daraism & Artists, we balance guests' best experiences, change of circumstances and needs with the livelihoods of our collaborators and artists. Each encounter represents a dedicated opportunity, and a cancelled date means a lost opportunity for all of us.
- Cancellations or date changes made 8 days or more before the booked journey date: Fully refundable, minus banking and payment processing fees.
- Cancellations or date changes within 7 days of the experience date: Non-refundable. While we will do our best to accommodate changes based on availability and circumstances, the original booking remains non-refundable.
Reduction in Number of Guests Booked
A reduction in guest count is treated as a partial cancellation and follows the same refund windows above — the value of the reduced spots is fully refundable (minus fees) if changed 8+ days out, and non-refundable if changed within 7 days of the experience date.
